Allergies

Last Tuesday, Lily had an allergic reaction to a little bit of formula. We have tried supplementing formula before, but she has always turned her nose up at it and so I guess this was one of the only times she had ever really drank some. She threw it all up and then her face began to swell and she started getting blotchy all over. We took her to Children's and after a shot of epinephrine she was back to normal. They had to observe her for 4 hours though, so while she slept, we watched kid movies curtosity of the ACH Child Life Department.

It turns out she is allergic to milk and lots of other things. We are now scheduled to see an allergist to find out more details and run more tests.

This pic does not do it justice, but here she is in the hospital.

New Nephew

Tucker Robert Smith was recently added to our family and Lily and I could not wait to go to Austin and meet him. Griffin, Tucker's big brother was the perfect host, ceaselessly playing and singing to Lily and always on top of replacing dropped pacis and shuttling dirty diapers to the trash. Thanks Smith family for a great trip!

This is how we got around with three. I never imagined they all would fit ... but thankfully they did!

Griffin read just about every book he owned to Lily.

I couldn't resist.

I am going to go ahead and put a 2 minute video from our trip even though I know Blake is going to give me grief about it. He is totally against any video over about 30 seconds, but I just could not cut this one down anymore. I know I am a little bias, but I could watch these two all day. I also added a clip to our Christmas post below.

Uncle David

A few days after Christmas, my uncle, Dr. David Fant, passed away. I have no doubt that he will be remembered for many years in his community as a devoted and caring physician and even more so by his family and friends as man of great faith and an unyeilding love for his two daughters, who lost their mother several years ago.

I was touched by the heartfelt words spoken at his funeral and was thankful to get the opportunity to learn more about him as the father, physician, church member and friend that he was to so many. My cousins were amazing as they shared their memories and thanked those who came to pay thier respects with faith and grace well beyond their teenage years. I was more proud of them than I have been of just about anyone. I know that even though there will be tough days ahead, their dad's love of God and faith in his teachings has been passed on to them and will carry them through.

Chirstmas

I am a little behind on our comings and goings, but we'll start with Christmas and get the rest in a day or so.

This year we spent Thanksgiving Day with my family and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with the Hirscheiders. While we missed those that were away, it was nice to slow things down a bit and really enjoy a holiday in one place from beginning to end. Lily was of course too young to really know what was going on, but that didn't stop us from trying to get her to open her presents and even setting up her presents from "Santa" after she went to bed Christmas Eve - that's right, I admit it.

Too much excitement.
