My Favorite Time of Day

Other than when Lily and I are both asleep, my favorite time in our day is right after she eats. She throws her head back and collapses against me in a dead sleep as if the weight of the world has just been lifted off her shoulders. I don't think anyone but a baby could be that content.

Lily's First Visitors

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful support group of friends and family. Here are just a few of Lily's first visitors.

A Few "Firsts"

Lily has had a big week. Granddad came to visit Saturday and we all went on a walk in the neighborhood. Lily slept the whole time. She also slept through her first trip to church. We had such a good time introducing her to all our friends and her future boyfriends.

Today we went to the doctor before taking Lily on her first shopping trip. She is right on track to gaining her weight back and was a healthy 7lbs 5oz. After the doctor, Grana and Mom took Lily on her first shopping trip.

Through it all she was quite the trooper, sleeping most of the time and always waiting until we get home - or at least in the car - to decide it's time to eat.

Big Brother Cooper

Cooper, our 85 pound boxer, loves his new little sister. He is very protective of her and interested in her every move. He sleeps next to her bassinet and gets up every time she whimpers to make sure she is okay. She seems to like him too, although she is mostly indifferent when he sniffs and tries to kiss her.

Lily's First Days

We have had quite a week so far. After the delivery, Lily scared us all by deciding to stop breathing for a bit while she was nursing for the first time. That little stunt of course scared us to death and landed her in the ICU nursery for most of the day, being tested from head to toe. Thankfully, the episode was just a fluke and the test results all came back indicating that she is as healthy as a new baby can be.

Meanwhile, Courtney spent the first day of Lily's life with a spinal headache as a result of the epidural. This got noticeably better the following day, but returned the night we got home. So the next day, we went back to UAMS for a blood patch to heal the headache.

We are all doing much better now - adjusting to life as new parents and enjoying the visits from friends and family. Of course we do have "Grana," Courtney's mom hear to help us so our version of parenting is free from housework and cooking at the moment.
