Happy BirthWeek Lily!
It is amazing to me that it has been a year since we brought Lily home and our lives changed forever. God has blessed us beyond compare with this sweet little girl. Although we covet nights to go out with just the two of us and opportunities to catch a movie in the theater, we really did not know what we were missing before she came along. She is learning new things every week and changing faster than I can keep up. Her "stats" at the moment are:
Sleeping: She FINALLY started sleeping through the night a couple of months ago and although she likes to get up early, usually around 6, we are all thankful for nights of uninterrupted sleep.
Eating: I am shocked at how much this kid shovels in at one sitting. Right now her favorite foods are any kind of meat (chicken, steak, hamburger, etc), bananas, strawberries, broccolli and always bread. She also really likes her soy milk, which has been a releif for me after my hesitation with weaning her a month earlier than we planned.
Playing: She loves to bang things together (especially our Wii drum sticks), turn the knobs on the stereo, pull bowls out of the kitchen cabinets, look at books (especially ones with flaps), and she also loves animals - stuffed or real.

We began celebrating Lily's 1st birthday with the Hirscheiders last Saturday. She always has a good time at Nana & PaPa's - especially when all 5 cousins are there to entertain her. She just sits back and takes it all in.
The next day - Easter Sunday - we were in Searcy. The Smith's were in town so we had a great time getting to see them and continuing the tradition of the Easter "Treasure Hunt" with a new generation. They were a little young to fully appreciate the clues, but of course were excited about the surprise gifts at the end. After lunch we celebrated Lily's birthday. She really enjoyed opening her presents - much more than I expected.

Wednesday was Lily's actual birthday. Blake had to work, but we gave Lily a few things from us in the morning and then we all watched the videos from the hospital and bringing her home while we ate breakfast. On Thursday, Blake had the day off and we went to the zoo and took pictures of Lily with her cake at the house. She of course is still a little young to fully appreciate the wonder of seeing elephants and giraffes (my 2 favorites) up close, but she had a great time being outside and was definitely interested in the comings and goings of most of the animals on display.

Easter
In two days, we combined Easter, Lily's birthday and Blake's birthday with both sides of the family, so ... I am going to leave Blake out - sorry hunny I was too busy taking pics of Lily - and will cover Lily's birthday in a later post.
