The following weekend, we met several other couples to camp along the Buffalo River. We had our reservations considering a dismal weather forecast, but decided to go ahead and give it a go. This was Lily's 4th time to camp, but the first time to go for two nights in a row and also the first time where I felt like she was old enough to know what was going on around her - these thoughts made me a little nervous about how our sleeping arrangements would work.
The rain kept itself to one night and was gone by morning - so that was a huge relief. When the storm rolled in I was pretty tense, but Lily slept through almost every minute of the strong winds and distant lightening - only waking once to craw into my sleeping bag and grab me like a koala bear before grinning and going back to sleep.
All in all we had a wonderful time and brought home a very exhausted 1 year old whose only damage from the weekend was a couple of mosquito bites - despite my best efforts with the clip on OFF fan and "natural" bug repellent.
